March 6, 2019. Designed to connect Arles and Salon-de-Provence in two different lines, these seven new buses were officially inaugurated on March 5.

“We are proud to inaugurate the first line propelled by compressed natural gas (CNG) in France, this type of vehicles projects 95% less fine particles. Of course, the purchase costs are a little higher, but in terms of duration and distance, there is no price,” said Renaud Muselier, President of the Southern Region.

Operated by Carpostal, these seven buses inaugurated the Libébus interurban network and were divided into two lines, 108 and 29, which provide the link between Arles and Salon-de-Provence.

For the Southern Region, the acquisition of these vehicles is part of the “Une COP d’avance” plan that anticipates a progressive renovation of the vehicle fleet with more virtuous technologies.

“I hope that the Region is an example and means a strong impulse for a new mobility that respects the environment and the health of the inhabitants of the territory. In 2018, almost 200 million euros were reserved for ecological mobility,” explained Muselier.
