June 15, 2012. The Spanish company HAM, together with BIONET, will open the refueling station for liquefied natural gas (LNG) with greater supply and consumption in Europe, which will offer its services to a fleet of 70 heavy goods vehicles from October. Currently, fourteen heavy commercial vehicles are supplied in the LNG filling station at -150°C.
The event will be held in the same public refueling station located in Tarragona, Spain, the 27th of June 2012, and chaired by the Mayor of Tarragona, Josep Felix Ballesteros, and will attend other political authorities of the Generalitat de Catalunya, of the respective areas of environment, energy and mobility as well as major business sector representatives and vehicle manufacturers. There will also be an exhibition and exposure of different LNG trucks and vehicles that are operating on natural gas today.
HAM says the liquefied natural gas is a successfully proven and safe technology, which today is the only alternative for long-haul routes heavy vehicles. These units run on diesel and natural gas at a time. The transport sector emits about 25 percent of total European emissions of carbon dioxide and particulate matter, a fact that makes alternatives required to reduce consumption of diesel. |
