Madrid launches a plan to promote the purchase of sustainable vehicles

January 4, 2019. The purpose of the MUS Plan is to encourage the acquisition of vehicles with alternative energies to conventional fuels, thereby promoting sustainability in the transport sector, the reduction of CO2 emissions and other pollutants, mitigation of climate change and the improvement of air quality, as well as energy saving and the diversification of energy sources in transport and the consequent reduction of energy dependence on oil.

It is intended for the purchase of vehicles (cars, motorcycles or light quadricycles) that work with alternative energies. It includes incentives of up to 5,500 euros for the purchase of an electric vehicle or fuel cell, and up to 2,500 euros in the case of bifuel (natural gas and gasoline).

The concessionaires must accompany these aids with up to 1,000 euros, for the installation of the electric recharging point in the purchase of plug-in electric or hybrid vehicles, or as an additional discount for the other categories. In the case of the quadricycles, this help is 150 euros.

The aid, managed through the Energy Foundation of the Community of Madrid, will depend on the cost of the vehicle, its autonomy and the type of energy used. These subsidies may be used to purchase vehicles that have a maximum sale price of 32,000 euros before VAT, in the case of electric cars, or 25,000 euros in the case of purchase of natural gas cars.

The purchase of motorcycles has a price limitation of 8,000 euros, while light electric quadricycles and fuel cell vehicles have no limit on the sale price.
