Peruvian stations propose creating a fund for vehicle conversions to natural gas

August 1, 2012. Peruvian Filling Stations Association (AGESP) proposes the creation of an exclusive fund for vehicle conversions to natural gas. This initiative, promoted by the Government, arising in the arch of the mass use of natural gas.

According to Rocio Zorrilla, the new president of the Association, many entrepreneurs pushed for the mass use of natural gas. In this regard, she said there are about 158 natural gas fueling stations and a vehicle conversion level between 1.800 (USD 685) and 2.000 soles (USD 761) per month.

Zorrilla says it is important to encourage the conversion from a fund that allows the owner of a car to access this process by providing a minimum amount. The fund would be created by private sector contributions and resources managed by the Development Finance Corporation (COFIDE).

However, the president of the AGESP states that it is still necessary to have the Stabilization Fund for Fuels Prices. She explained that they have removed the high-octane gasoline from the tutelage of the fund.
