Slovenia begins to develop natural gas for vehicles

December 8, 2010. NGVA Europe informed that its member Enos LNG together with three other companies developed the demonstration project for the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) in transport in Slovenia. The four largest cities, which have installed Vehicle Refuelling Appliance (VRAs), gained first CNG vehicles. In the capital city of Slovenia, Ljubljana, the city bus operator has launched a tender to purchase the first 20 CNG buses. The first CNG filling station, which will be located in Ljubljana, will also be open to the public. Public filling stations are planed in all cities that have joined the project.

In Slovenia, the CNG will be used under the brand name “methane”.

Earlier this month, Enos LNG organised a special event to celebrate the Slovenian kick-off for NGVs where NGVA Europe General Manager, Manuel Lage, presented the experiences of using CNG in Europe and also talked about successful examples for using biomethane in transport.
