Filling station offers Bio-LNG for vehicles in Germany

Novatek Green Energy, a subsidiary of NOVATEK PAO, has announced the delivery of the first batch of Bio-LNG to one of its service stations in Germany.

November 10, 2021. Novatek Green Energy, a subsidiary of NOVATEK PAO, has announced the delivery of the first batch of Bio-LNG to one of its service stations in Germany.

Most of the biomethane plants in Europe, more than 200, are in this country, but none of them are equipped with a liquefaction plant. Therefore, Bio-LNG is imported from other European nations where such plants are in operation, but of which there are not many yet.

The Bio-LNG sold at Novatek stations was produced in Scandinavia in a sewage gas liquefaction plant (organic waste) and complies with the directive of the Parliament and the Council of the European Union on the use of energy from from renewable sources (biofuels), commonly known as the RED II Directive.

As part of its long-term strategy, Novatek Green Energy is implementing a plan to acquire a network of LNG filling stations in Europe in order to supply heavy traffic at key traffic points in Germany and Poland with green fuel. The company is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and aiming for a low-carbon future. An example of this is the availability of Bio-LNG at one of its refueling stations in Germany. The facility is also Novatek’s first climate-neutral LNG facility in Europe. Located in Rostock and accessible to the public, it has been on the premises of Spedition Heinrich Gustke GmbH since December 2019, where 50 of the 130 vehicles already run on liquefied gas.

“German consumers are very careful that the products offered on the market have the lowest possible CO2 content. The new Bio-LNG meets these expectations perfectly,” says Dariusz Bratoń, President of Novatek Green Energy.
