Galileo and Saint John LNG promote innovative reliquefaction project in Canada

Galileo´s Boil-off Gas Compression and Reliquefaction solutions to be operating in near future for Saint John LNG.

June 23, 2024. Galileo Technologies announced a strategic collaboration with Saint John LNG, a subsidiary of Repsol, to revolutionize liquefied natural gas (LNG) operations at the Saint John terminal in Canada.

This innovative project aims to address the challenge of boil-off gas (BOG), a common problem in the LNG industry. Traditionally, BOG is compressed and sent back to the pipeline, but thanks to Galileo Technologies’ liquefaction solution, Saint John LNG will be able to recover and store this resource for marketing during times of high demand, such as the region’s cold winters.

The solution includes the deployment of 8 BOG gas compressors and 15 Cryobox® units, along with associated service packages, provided by Galileo Technologies from its manufacturing center in Middlesex, New Jersey. Furthermore, thanks to the modular and scalable solution that Galileo has in all its products, it will supply not only the equipment but also the piping, thus offering a 100% turnkey solution. This initiative marks a significant milestone in both companies’ commitment to innovation and sustainability in the energy sector.

“This project represents a significant investment in the future of LNG operations. By optimizing our processes and leveraging innovative technologies, we are prepared to deliver greater value to our customers while advancing our sustainability goals.” Courtney Jones, CEO of Saint John LNG.
