June 9, 2022. IDEA, an independent provider of industrial supply chain services in France, puts into service its first six biogas-fueled trucks of the ten scheduled for delivery in 2022. It is an investment of 10 million of euros over five years, which is part of the objective of decarbonizing the fleet by 40% by 2025, as well as reducing its carbon footprint by 25% by that year and achieving neutrality by 2040.
This first order began last year with the manufacturers Scania and Iveco, as they were considered the most reliable and advanced partners in biogas technology. Two models have been selected for this: Iveco S-Way CNG and Scania G410 A4x2NA.
Before validating their choice, IDEA tested each vehicle with two drivers for one week each in the Montoir-de-Bretagne area. The tests were conclusive, both in terms of technological benefits, driving comfort and consumption.
Since then, the company has validated, in addition to the 2022 order, the renewal of part of its diesel fleet for biogas trucks at a rate of 15 units per year in 2023, 2024 and 2025, and 20 vehicles in 2026.
Thus, in 2026, IDEA’s fleet will have 77 units that run on biogas.
