July 21, 2023. Scania Argentina organized the test of a bus powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) with the passenger transport company El Cacique, from which great benefits were confirmed in the intensive use of the unit for urban routes.
“It has been proven that CNG-powered buses mean a reduction of up to 40% in fuel consumption compared to diesel vehicles,” said Fernando Luna, Scania’s Cuyo Region Services Manager, adding: “more sustainable transportation means both lower operating costs and lower emissions of polluting gases.”
From El Cacique, the person in charge of Maintenance Rogelio Sánchez highlighted: “We need reliable units like these because, in short and medium distance transport, the service cannot stop.” Likewise, the company’s driver, Fabián Montivero, commented that “the CNG bus is very comfortable and silent; both from what the passengers said and from the driving position.”
