July 10, 2023. Through Martí, official distributor of Iveco in the Dominican Republic, the first X-Way powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) was delivered to the country. In total, the multinational TotalEnergies acquired 13 vehicles for fuel distribution, with the purpose of supporting its ambition to be the main player in responsible energy and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
“This delivery of natural gas trucks is a big step for our vehicle portfolio. It fills us with pride to be part of the vision of transformation towards carbon neutrality, promoting care for the environment and sustainable mobility”, expressed Christian Cabral, CEO of the vehicle portfolio at Martí.
For his part, William Costa, Iveco Sales Manager, added that “it is a first purchase by the TotalEnergies customer who is opting for the brand with the first 13 units. New orders that are part of a renewal of vehicles for 2024 are already being negotiated; The idea is to have a large percentage of the current diesel fleet with new LNG units”.
These X-Way have Euro 6 natural gas technology -reducing polluting particles by up to 99% and with minimal noise emission-, with Hi-Tronix 12-speed gearboxes, a spacious cabin and better ergonomics for drivers, active and passive safety, protection system for dangerous loads and numerous design awards worldwide.
For the countries of the Caribbean, known worldwide for their beaches and tourist centers, where their terrain includes tropical forests, savannah and highlands; the care and cleanliness of the environment is fundamental and becomes a key point for the development of the economy of the region. In this sense, the use of vehicles powered by cleaner energies, friendly to the ecosystem and with world-class technologies is a great contribution.
