September 10, 2023. Fomento Paraná and Compagas held a meeting with representatives of the taxi centers and the taxi drivers’ union to establish a rapprochement and discuss financing possibilities to encourage the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) in the vehicle fleet. Fomento Paraná has a cooperation agreement with Compagas to promote actions to expand the market and consumption of CNG and biogas in the State of Paraná, Brazil.
At the moment, the institution already maintains a line of credit that allows financing the conversion of vehicles to CNG, but the main demand from professionals is credit for fleet renewal. In this regard, Fomento Paraná has been working on fundraising and the expectation is that at the beginning of next year it will be possible to present, together with the State Government, a line to serve professional drivers.
At the same time, the institution is working together with the Brazilian Development Association (ABDE) on a request to the Ministry of Tourism to enable the registration of taxi drivers in Cadastur – since taxis are part of the set of activities that serve tourism. This measure would allow resources from Fungetur – General Tourism Fund to be used to also finance this activity.
