May 11, 2025. Iveco participates in the Tour d’Europe 2025, an initiative involving the entire European automotive value chain, with more than 20 partners, whose objective is to raise awareness about the role of renewable fuels in achieving climate neutrality by 2050, as outlined in the European Green Deal.
Iveco joins the Tour, which began last March in Madrid, with its new S-Way LNG truck powered by biomethane. The company is actively demonstrating that renewable gas effectively reduces CO2 emissions and offers a concrete and scalable solution for decarbonizing commercial road transport. Thanks to a well-established and expanding European refueling network of around 800 stations, it is now possible to cover international routes with a truck powered exclusively by Bio-LNG.
Until June, the project’s commercial vehicles powered by biomethane, HVO, and bioethanol will tour Europe, with events fostering dialogue between supply chain stakeholders and policymakers on the effectiveness of renewable fuels and their decarbonization potential for the transport sector.
“Through our participation in the Tour d’Europe, we aim to demonstrate that biomethane is a practical, ready-to-use solution for long-haul operations, offering unmatched performance, a competitive total cost of ownership, and a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. The Iveco S-Way makes this opportunity a reality for our customers. The Tour’s arrival in Brussels for the closing stop is a call to action for European lawmakers to ensure that biofuels are duly considered in CO2 regulations for their potential to decarbonize freight logistics,” said Giandomenico Fioretti, Business Development Director for Alternative Propulsion at Iveco.
