G3 | Go Green Gas cancels the first biomethane guarantees of origin used for mobility in Portugal

It contributes to the promotion of biomethane as a sustainable solution for the decarbonization of road transport.

July 6, 2026. G3 | Go Green Gas reinforces its position as a pioneer in the national renewable gas market by completing the first cancellation of Biomethane Guarantees of Origin (GO) in Portugal intended for the mobility sector, registered on the portal of the Entity Issuing Guarantees of Origin (EEGO), managed by REN.

This new milestone continues the journey that began in 2023, the year in which G3 | Go Green Gas became the first company to market biomethane to the transportation sector in Portugal, placing certification of renewable origin at the heart of its value proposition ever since.

The cancellation of GOs in the national system for the issuance, transfer, and cancellation of renewable certification represents a decisive step toward strengthening the traceability, transparency, and credibility of the renewable gas market in Portugal, contributing to the promotion of biomethane as a sustainable solution for the decarbonization of road transport.

Guarantees of Origin are electronic certificates that prove that a specific amount of energy was produced from renewable sources using a specific technology. In the case of biomethane, these certificates ensure the renewable origin of the gas consumed, allowing companies to demonstrate, in a transparent and verifiable manner, the use of renewable energy in their operations, support their sustainability strategies, and meet ESG reporting requirements.
