Emaya purchases four new CNG compactor trucks for Palma de Mallorca

The vehicles will primarily be used to improve service in narrow streets, areas with tight turns, and other hard-to-access locations.

October 5, 2026. Emaya has added six new compactor trucks to its waste collection fleet, representing a total investment of €1,031,404 (excluding VAT). The vehicles will primarily be used to improve service in narrow streets, areas with tight turns, and other hard-to-access locations in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

The municipal company explains that the purchase addresses both the need to renew part of the fleet and the increase in standard and special collection frequencies.

Of the six new trucks, four run on compressed natural gas (CNG) and two are diesel-powered. All weigh 12 tons and feature a compact design intended to facilitate maneuvering in urban environments.

The four CNG vehicles have an output of 185 kW, a payload capacity of 3,853 kilograms, and an 8-cubic-meter body. Their acquisition cost €735,404 (excluding VAT), working out to €183,851 per unit.

The two diesel trucks, meanwhile, have an output of 120 kW, a payload capacity of 4,439 kilograms, and a 6-cubic-meter body. In this instance, Emaya invested €296,000 (excluding VAT), or €148,000 per vehicle.

The key feature of the new units is their smaller size compared to other collection vehicles, allowing them to operate in narrow streets and spaces where larger trucks struggle to maneuver.
