October 8, 2026. Following the series named after stars—Polaris, Orion, Virgo, and Aurora—GNV is launching a new family of vessels inspired by planets. These ships will represent the next generation of the fleet and will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).
This announcement marks another step in the company’s fleet renewal plan, backed by the MSC Group, which has already seen the entry into service of four new state-of-the-art ferries over the past eighteen months.
The GNV Jupiter will be the first of four new vessels currently under construction at the Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) in Guangzhou, China. Powered by LNG, the ship will have a capacity for 2,500 passengers and 3,500 linear meters of cargo, as well as 500 cabins; it is scheduled to join the fleet before the end of 2027.
“Our major fleet renewal and expansion plan continues to progress, and the announcement of the GNV Jupiter marks a new milestone within it. It is the first of four new vessels that will join the fleet in the coming years, helping to strengthen the company’s entire network and reaffirming our commitment to service quality, innovation, and international growth,” noted Matteo Catani, CEO of GNV.
