Liquigas and Air Liquide start the first supplies of Bio-LNG in Italy

Liquigas solutions will be fully operational in the Italian market with supplies destined to boost the LC3 Trasporti fleet.

March 15, 2022. Liquigas, a leading company in the distribution of LPG and LNG for domestic, commercial and industrial use in Italy, and Biomethane Green, a subsidiary of Air Liquide Biometano, have partnered for the provision of Bio-LNG in order to promote the combination of “efficiency and sustainability” in the transport sector. In this way, Liquigas solutions will be fully operational in the Italian market with supplies destined to boost the LC3 Trasporti fleet.

The biofuel comes from the Truccazzano Biorefinery (Milan) and is the result of a five-year agreement that Liquigas has signed with Air Liquide, a multinational that operates in the gas, technology and services sector for industry and health. This is a strategic commitment that provides for an incremental supply of Bio-LNG that Liquigas will allocate to its own transport market, to feed the biomethane storage and supply systems at the private headquarters of fleet operators and road transport companies as well as at filling stations.

According to Michele Ambrogi, President of LC3 Trasporti, “To date, Bio-LNG remains the best solution for reducing emissions from heavy-duty vehicles, without sensitive limits on distances. It allows the use of LNG engines, already exploiting a 100% sustainable fuel derived entirely from circular economies. This well-established partnership will only accelerate the achievement of our long-established goals in terms of respect for the environment.”
