July 9, 2022. Scania Mexico took advantage of the stage of the National Freight Transport Forum, organized by the National Association of Private Transport (ANTP), to deliver an R410 model tractor with liquefied natural gas (LNG) engine to Servicios de Autotransporte Cazama (SAC).
According to Alejandro Mondragón, CEO of Scania México, “electrification is here and now, and we are going to make great strides in that segment, but it will take more time, infrastructure and an ecosystem are required that we do not have today and that we are building. So, that is why we are taking action on several fronts and one of them is this very important one, which is complementary, expanding our offer of alternative fuels”.
The manager explained what they call the “Golden Triangle”, which is a collaboration between Scania, as the manufacturer of the truck and technology, the transport company SAC and Énestas, as the supplier of the fuel dispenser.
This alliance will allow Scania to continue promoting alternative fuels. This will translate into a 99% saving in particulate matter and an 80% reduction in nitric oxide (NOx) emissions, compared to diesel. In addition, this type of vehicle generates 50% fewer decibels, so noise pollution is also reduced.
“The change is here and now and it has many fronts: electrification, CNG, Euro VI diesel, they all add up, but we needed LNG. Look at the technology we bring: the dispenser, the tanks are state-of-the-art and it really is to continue reducing greenhouse gases more and more”, concluded Mondragón.
