May 14, 2025. Ten new natural gas vehicles will enter service on Colombian roads as a result of the synergy between Bahamón Jaramillo, Surtigas, and Vehicosta, as the authorized distributor of DFAC|DONGFENG.
In line with Surtigas’ commitment to strengthening the company’s sustainability and generating a positive impact on the environment, the initiative seeks to join forces and advance toward a more environmentally and community-responsible future. Bahamón Jaramillo is one of the most important suppliers supporting the company’s operations.
The model acquired by the contracting firm is the Captain T double cabin, a model with excellent capacity for transporting cargo and crews. It is the ideal size for traveling between neighborhoods and municipalities, and also offers optimal performance and low fuel consumption emissions, thanks to an engine designed specifically for use with natural gas vehicles (NGV). It also features a 5-speed gearbox, factory-configured to meet the unique challenges of Colombia’s topography.
Additionally, the addition of these vehicles to the fleet represents significant benefits for the environment and people, as they are 40% quieter than diesel vehicles; they reduce the emission of more than 90% of particulate matter; and they reduce CO2 emissions by up to 30%.
“At Surtigas, we continue to promote NGV as the best alternative for achieving technical, economic, and environmental efficiencies for the freight transportation segment in Colombia. These milestones demonstrate the company’s commitment to the region’s energy transition by promoting and utilizing natural gas as a suitable fuel,” said Winston Wilches, General Manager of Surtigas.
