April 25, 2025. Scania successfully completed a test with the Green Efficiency truck powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) together with Cliba, the company responsible for waste collection in the Buenos Aires municipality of San Isidro. The unit was tested for 30 days, and the results demonstrated the advantages of this technology in reducing fuel costs and noise emissions.
Cliba is also responsible for waste collection in the cities of Buenos Aires, Neuquén, Santa Fe, San Patricio del Chañar, and Centenario. Facundo Barbero, the company’s General Manager in San Isidro, stated that they see Scania as “a technological and strategic partner in this evolutionary process, which also stands out for its timely provision of spare parts, financing options, and ongoing driver training.”
The demo truck was provided by the official dealer Baisur, which also has a permanent technical advisor at Cliba’s workshop. The CNG truck demonstrated excellent results in terms of fuel consumption and cost, improved efficiency, lower emissions of polluting gases, and low noise emissions.
“We are proud that Cliba continues to trust Scania to invest in innovation, as it is a company that has more than 100 of our brand’s trucks in its fleet,” said Luis Barale, Sales Manager for Large Fleets and Buses at Baisur Motor. He added: “This relationship will undoubtedly continue to grow because we are aligned in our sustainable goals that benefit the environment and all residents.”
