EMAYA incorporates 10 CNG trucks to renew its fleet and optimize waste collection

The vehicles will be used on hotel, supermarket and industrial estate routes, among others.

April 7, 2024. The Municipal Water and Sewerage Company (EMAYA) of Palma de Mallorca, Spain, will incorporate ten new 27-ton collection trucks to renew its fleet and optimize the waste collection service. Five of these Iveco brand vehicles have already been received and have been incorporated into the different collection routes while the remaining five will arrive in the coming weeks and will be operational before the Spanish summer.

The purchase of these trucks, approved by the company’s Board of Directors, has involved an investment of 2,029,000 euros and includes the incorporation of vehicles that use compressed natural gas (CNG) technology, which is a cheaper and more environmentally friendly fuel by significantly reducing CO2 emissions and noise pollution.

The vehicles already incorporated and those that will do so in the coming weeks, which have a storage capacity of about 23,000 kilos, will be used for the 4 hotel routes in high season and the specific supermarket route. Likewise, it is planned to add them to the collection routes of the municipality’s industrial estates, in the port area and in private contribution areas, among others.
