First natural gas intermunicipal bus in Colombia

Scania Colombia launched the K320 IB 4x2 intermunicipal bus powered by natural gas that adapts to short, medium and long distance routes.

October 27, 2022. Scania Colombia, in line with the expansion of the Green Efficiency product portfolio, launched the K320 IB 4×2 intermunicipal bus powered by natural gas that adapts to short, medium and long distance routes.

With this vehicle, the operating cost is reduced by 40%, thus guaranteeing savings for users and contributing to more sustainable transportation systems, according to the company.

The intermunicipal bus has a capacity of 1,050 liters of compressed natural gas (CNG) and guarantees autonomy in operations in the national territory. In addition, it can be refueled at any service station that supplies gas in Colombia. Its engine is 9.3 liters and 320 horsepower.

“At Scania we continue to expand our product portfolio, we lead change through sustainable solutions and efficient technology that reduces operating costs, making use of the technological development that characterizes us,” said Juan Carlos Ocampo, General Manager of Scania Colombia, regarding the recent release.

Natural gas has already been used in Colombia for cargo and passenger transport vehicles, and Scania has been at the forefront, according to the Commercial Manager of Scania Colombia, Efraín Ospina. “We have gas units operating in all segments of the cargo and passenger transport, we have developed this product for intermunicipal transport that adapts to the Colombian topography, reducing the level of noise and vibrations for greater user comfort.”
