Fruit transport on CNG on the Argentine Atlantic Coast

Golden Fruit has renewed part of its fleet with Scania units powered by CNG, achieving a more efficient and sustainable operation with lower operating costs.

November 5, 2025. Scania completed the incorporation of new compressed natural gas (CNG) units into the fleet of Golden Fruit, a company dedicated to transporting fresh fruit between Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, and Bahía Blanca. With this decision, the company has reduced fuel consumption by 40% and improved the overall performance of its operation.

“The route we travel requires a range of between 400 and 500 kilometers, and with CNG we are easily achieving that. In addition to the fuel savings, we have noticed an optimization in the maintenance of the units,” said Jordán Zambon, President of Golden Fruit.

The company already has three Scania CNG trucks in operation and plans to further extend their range by adding extra fuel tanks, allowing them to travel up to 750 kilometers without refueling.

Fernando Gaillour, Head of the Scania dealership that assisted with the project, noted: “We have worked with Golden Fruit for years, and we share their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint through cleaner energy solutions. The CNG units enable more sustainable transport without sacrificing power or comfort.”
