Lipigas announces two new stations for LNG trucks in Chile

These are two new points to supply trucks with LNG; one in Paine, Metropolitan Region, that will be operational in December of this year; and another in Puerto Montt, Los Lagos.

October 24, 2023. Two years ago, Lipigas began its plans to build the first green corridor for heavy cargo transportation in the country, and today it announces that new service stations will join the project. These are two new points to supply trucks with liquefied natural gas (LNG); one in Paine, Metropolitan Region, that will be operational in December of this year; and another in Puerto Montt, Los Lagos, which is estimated to be operational in March 2024. It is expected that together they will supply more than 100 vehicles of this type.

“LNG is an efficient, proven and available option for reducing CO2 on the planet. It is a more sustainable alternative, which allows us to significantly reduce the emissions generated by diesel fuel and the emissions of particulate matter by 96%, in addition to contributing to considerably mitigating noise pollution,” explains the LNG, Biofuels and Green Hydrogen Business Manager from Empresas Lipigas, Esteban Rodríguez, who adds that “these two new stations that are added to the network will allow us to reach more vehicles with this alternative and in the near future be able to offer them renewable liquefied natural gas, an even more sustainable option in the that we are already working on and that we hope to have available at the end of 2024.”

Both stations add to those inaugurated in Tabolango, Valparaíso Region in 2022; and in Linares, Maule Region in 2021. In this way, the company advances in the construction of the first clean energy corridor for the transportation of heavy cargo in Chile. Its plan is to install service stations at strategic points to supply trucks that operate with LNG from the north to the south of the country and then expand its extension internationally.
