New CNG fleet arrives in San Juan de Lurigancho to strengthen connection with Pachacámac

The Urban Transport Authority for Lima and Callao continues to promote the modernization of public transportation.

May 4, 2026. The Urban Transport Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU) continues to promote the modernization of public transportation by creating conditions that facilitate fleet renewal by Peruvian operators. In this context, a new fleet of eco-friendly buses was presented, which will strengthen connectivity between San Juan de Lurigancho and Pachacámac, benefiting thousands of users in eastern and southern Lima.

The event included the initial display of three of the 15 units that make up this new fleet, demonstrating the progressive improvement of the city’s vehicle fleet.

These buses operate on compressed natural gas (CNG), a cleaner technology that contributes to the reduction of polluting emissions. The units are also equipped with security cameras connected to the monitoring center of the transportation and tourism company Cinco Estrella S.A., which enhances security throughout the route.

The fleet will travel along important thoroughfares such as Wiesse Avenue, Puente Nuevo Avenue, the Santa Anita roundabout, and La Molina Avenue, connecting districts like Ate, El Agustino, La Molina, San Juan de Lurigancho, and Pachacámac. This operation will allow for the transport of more than 2,000 passengers daily, improving travel times and service quality.

In this way, the ATU reaffirms its commitment to modernizing public transportation, promoting a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable fleet. These buses will join the more than 1,000 already renewed in Lima and Callao, as part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at consolidating a modern, organized, and user-centered transportation system.
