November 29, 2023. Companhia Potiguar de Gás (Potigás) extended until December 29, 2023 the promotion “Drive on gas with a bonus of R$ 1,500” that encourages the conversion of vehicles to compressed natural gas (CNG) in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The campaign began in October and covers the first 200 units converted with 5th and 6th generation kits and new cylinders in workshops approved by the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro).
To participate in the promotion, drivers must fully comply with the requirements established by the available regulations. The bonus is deposited directly into the participant’s bank account.
CNG is the fuel that provides the greatest savings to drivers in Rio Grande do Norte. In the latest price survey of the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), carried out between 11/19 and 11/25, natural gas showed a saving of 40% compared to ethanol and 31% compared to to gasoline. This means that, with a refueling price of R$ 50, the driver can travel 81 kilometers with ethanol, 93 kilometers with gasoline and 136 kilometers with natural gas.
In addition to savings, CNG encompasses a series of advantages such as sustainability, since it is the fossil fuel that emits the least pollutants. Safety is increased by refueling the vehicle without the product coming into contact with air, avoiding the possibility of combustion. The driver also has versatility as the conversion kit makes the car run on dual fuel.
Natural gas also helps to increase the life of the car engine and the oil change interval, since it does not cause carbon deposits on its internal parts. Exhaust gases survive because burning fuel does not result in the formation of sulfur compounds.
