August 11, 2026. Scania and Caio presented the K 280 4×2 gMillennium at Lat.Bus 2026, a 13-meter bus that can operate on natural gas or biomethane and aims to pave the way for the decarbonization of public transport.
The model has a capacity for 88 passengers, a length of 13 meters, and an estimated range of between 300 and 350 kilometers. Its configuration is geared towards urban services, BRT systems, and even intercity applications.
One of the main attractions of the launch will be verifying the bus’s performance under real operating conditions.
The unit destined for São Paulo is in the final stages of the homologation process requested by SPTrans, the agency responsible for managing the city’s public transport. Once this procedure is completed, Scania plans to begin demonstrations on a real route starting in September.
“This bus arrives at an important moment for the decarbonization of urban public transport,” said Mauricio Lucena, Sales Manager for Mobility Solutions at Scania Operações Comerciais Brasil.
The company’s strategy includes adding natural gas and biomethane to other technologies already advancing in Brazilian transport, such as Euro 6 diesel buses and electric units.
