June 4, 2023. AVTOVAZ plans to start the production of updated LADA Vesta powered by natural gas in 2024. According to Sergey Gromak, Vice-President for External Relations and Interaction with Shareholders of AVTOVAZ, in 2025 it is planned to launch production of bi-fuel version of LADA Largus with a new layout: gas cylinders will be located under the bottom of the trunk, thereby not hiding the trunk space, and in a car like Largus, this is also important for summer residents, and for small businesses. Gromak also reminded that this year AVTOVAZ, together with its industrial partner in Tolyatti, ATS-Avto, launched the production of a gas engine version of LADA Granta car. Plans for 2023 are to produce about 3-3.5 thousand of these vehicles.
“We are looking at the market very carefully, if there is demand, we will produce more,” said the manager. LPG equipment is mounted on LADA Granta sedans in all configurations with air conditioning. LADA Granta CNG uses both gasoline and compressed natural gas methane as fuel. The LPG design is safe: a fuse and a high-speed valve built into the gas cylinder exclude the possibility of its rupture and uncontrolled gas release in case of damage to the fuel equipment.
The cylinder is designed for 80 liters of gas and is located in the trunk, while the volume of the luggage compartment is sufficient 340 liters. The average gas consumption is 6.1 cubic meters per 100 km. Fully filled with gas and gasoline, the car is able to travel 1000 km without refueling.
