September 8, 2023. With an incentive of USD 200,000, through the Camisea NGV Bonus, UNICON acquired 20 compressed natural gas (CNG) mixer trucks in Peru. The operation was managed by Cálidda and allowed the incorporation of the new fleet of CAMC brand vehicles.
With this delivery, UNICON adds 59 units benefiting from the Camisea NGV Bonus between 2022 and 2023, for a total of USD 590,000.
“We are excited to be part of this important milestone for the widespread use of CNG in the heavy transportation sector. These mixer trucks are a clear example of the savings that companies can achieve compared to the use of other fuels such as diesel,” said Martín Gutiérrez, Director of Large Clients at Cálidda.
These are 20 CAMC brand mixers with 4 tanks and a total capacity of 215 cubic meters of natural gas. This will allow them to enjoy autonomy of more than 16 hours of continuous work. In addition, it was learned that UNICON’s fleet of CAMC NGV units already totals 139 units.
For his part, Paul Huayta, Manager of Equipment, Maintenance and Quarries at UNICON, added: “Beyond the economic benefit, which in some cases has meant significant savings in transportation costs, we are interested in continuing to work on innovation and sustainability. to reduce CO2 emissions and their impact on the environment. Therefore, with this acquisition, we have managed to grow from 30% to 35% of our fleet with natural gas, and we want to reach 50% of all units renewed by 2024.”
The Camisea NGV Bonus is a benefit offered by the Camisea consortium, and consists of a non-refundable bonus of up to USD 15,000 for the purchase of 100% CNG trucks or buses that operate in Lima and Callao.
