July 17, 2026. Flogas and bio-waste management company College Group have announced a significant renewable gas agreement.
Under this agreement, Flogas will offtake 26 GWh of renewable biomethane annually in an effort to support increased availability of indigenous energy and to contribute to Ireland’s net zero ambitions by aiming to reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels.
The supply is expected to deliver annual carbon savings of approximately 6,637 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, which is equivalent to removing around 114 heavy goods vehicle (HGVs) from Irish roads for a year.
College Group’s Co. Meath facility produces biomethane via anaerobic digestion of agri-food and animal by-products, supporting Ireland’s circular economy and energy security.
The site has a total production capacity of 75 GWh per annum, with the renewable gas primarily supporting decarbonization of the Irish transport sector.
This deal is part of Flogas’ Gas Purchase Agreement (GPA) strategy to support the growth of indigenous biomethane production and accelerate transport sector decarbonization across the island of Ireland.
