May 27, 2026. Agrale Argentina has signed an agreement with Hexagon Agility for the supply of 108 compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel systems for city buses.
The new vehicles will enter service starting in the second half of 2026 in Buenos Aires, the Argentine capital, one of the largest public transportation markets in South America, with an average of 4.5 million passengers daily.
Hexagon Agility’s CNG systems power tens of thousands of buses worldwide and feature patented, world-leading carbon fiber cylinders. This technology combines a lightweight design with high fuel efficiency, allowing the CNG units to achieve diesel-equivalent performance and range while significantly reducing emissions. Compared to diesel buses, CNG public transport vehicles generate up to 120% less carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions when fueled with biomethane, 80% less nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, 100% less sulfur dioxide (SOx) emissions, and up to 50% less noise, contributing to cleaner air and quieter streets.
“We selected Hexagon Agility solutions because their carbon fiber cylinders and complete fuel systems have demonstrated exceptional performance and reliability worldwide, qualities that were confirmed during our pilot projects,” said Gonzalo Temperini, Purchasing Director at Agrale Argentina. “These systems are the lightest and highest-capacity on the market, allowing Buenos Aires to take advantage of our more economical, domestically produced CNG fuel without compromising performance compared to the diesel buses we are used to.”
