Bulgaria’s Pernik relaunches EU-backed tender for 13 CNG buses

March 27, 2020. Bulgarian municipally-owned company Public Transport – Pernik has relaunched a tender for a contract for supply of 13 new buses running on compressed natural gas (CNG), worth an estimated 4.8 million levs (US$2.7 million/2.5 million euro).

The project benefits from European Union funding under Operational Programme Regions in Growth 2014-2020, Public Transport – Pernik said in a tender notice.

The buses should meet at least Euro VI emission standards and have at least 20 seats and space for at least 30 standing passengers.

The deadline for submitting offers is April 27. Bids will be ranked based on price, which will form 40% of the final mark, energy efficiency, technical characteristics, and warranty period.

The initial tender was launched in March 2019 but cancelled in June 2019, as it attracted no valid offers. The contract for the 13 CNG buses was valued at 4.2 million levs in the initial procedure.
