January 17, 2024. Comgás, the largest natural gas distributor in Latin America, and BT Logistics, signed an alliance to accelerate the development of the compressed natural gas (CNG) market for heavy vehicles and comply with the commitment to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. The announcement of the alliance was celebrated with the decal of two BT Logistics trucks that received the Comgás logo and seal and operate in the transport of packages, leaving the Mauser unit in Itaquaquecetuba, bound for Rio de Janeiro, serving a large chemical segment industry, as explained by Thiago Borer, head of CNG at Comgás:
“We have been working tirelessly on actions that accelerate the development of this market. Improving supply infrastructure is one of our priorities, but we go much further. “We work together with industries, transport companies, automobile manufacturers and other stakeholders to come up with more and more solutions to meet this growing demand for the use of CNG in cargo and passenger transportation.”
For Daniel Toloni, CEO of BT Logistics, “It is a pleasure to celebrate this alliance with Comgás and we hope to soon expand it to other company vehicles. In addition to contributing to the environment, we will be more efficient in the transportation of our cargo.”
The solution of replacing the diesel engine with a 100% natural gas one responds to the market demand for solutions that promote decarbonization, increasingly reducing the emission of polluting gases into the atmosphere. In addition to being more sustainable for the environment, the CNG engine has a reduced operating cost compared to the diesel engine.
