February 28, 2021. The expansion of the filling stations for natural gas vehicles of the Companhia Pernambucana de Gás (Copergás) will allow service to application and taxi drivers.
In this sense, Copergás intends to invest R$ 323 million in the period between 2020 and 2024 in the extension and interconnection of the natural gas distribution network for vehicles of the category. Among the benefited municipalities are Caruaru, Camaragibe, Carpina, Igarassu, Moreno, Ipojuca, São Lourenço da Mata, Paudalho and Petrolina.
The Brazilian distributor will expand from 800 kilometers of gas pipelines to 1,200 kilometers in 2024. This year alone, the company will contribute R$ 60 million, with an increase of 93 kilometers in its network of refueling stations for vehicles that use natural gas, attracting more of seven thousand new clients, with a focus on the residential, industrial and vehicular segments.
The investment period will also serve for the company to focus on the diffusion of natural gas vehicles in the state, taking the product to Petrolina, for example.
“In the city it will be an innovative project, we will take natural gas in the liquefied phase, transported by truck, and it will be distributed there as here in Recife. The objective is to make gas available in all regions with potential, and to internalize it more and more, reaching everywhere”, according to Copergás.
The company is expected to reach more than 42,000 new consumers statewide by 2024, with a strong focus on the residential and commercial segment. The vehicle sector will also play an important role, reaching 18 new filling facilities in Pernambuco by the end of this year.
