October 12, 2022. Copetran, one of the passenger and remittance transport companies with a long history in Colombia, has just presented a pilot project for the use of natural gas in its fleets. The tests begin with a bus that will initially cover a private route.
“Based on the environmental objectives established by the transportation company, it was decided to develop a new strategy that seeks to be friendlier to the environment and reduce the polluting impact of vehicles,” as explained by Copetran Manager Wilson Arizmendi. .
A first stage has just begun, in which the vehicle in question is identified with an exterior design alluding to the environmental proposal, with green tones and a seal that identifies it as “eco”, specifically referring to the use of natural gas.
These pilot tests will serve to gather important information for the next massive implementation of this propulsion technology. Measurements and monitoring will be carried out to determine how many buses are required to start full-scale operations.
