August 2, 2023. The Municipal Company for Urban Environmental Services of Gijón (Emulsa) has incorporated five new trucks, which will replace as many others in waste and urban hygiene tasks, after an investment of 280,150 euros.
These are three units powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) that will work as support vehicles for waste collection trucks, one with diesel propulsion equipped with pressurized water equipment for washing the exterior of the container islands and another for the urban hygiene service, equipped with a pressurized water unit with a sandblaster for removing graffiti.
The Councilor for the Environment and Sustainability and President of Emulsa, Rodrigo Pintueles, stated at the presentation of these vehicles that the municipal government team is committed to improving mechanization in urban hygiene work.
He has also trusted that the municipal contribution can be improved for a better provision of services to citizens.
Emulsa has a fleet of 291 vehicles, 32 electric and 19 CNG, with an average age of 11.5 years, and which in 2022 traveled 2.2 million kilometers, consumed 962,202 liters of diesel, 25,925 of gasoline and 94,697 kilograms of natural gas.
