Itaipu Binacional and the International Center for Renewable Energies – Biogas (CIBiogás) will present on Monday the Audi A5 Sportback G-Tron, designed to work with gas as the main fuel.
Launched recently in the European market, the vehicle represents an important innovation framework for the exclusive use of renewable resources in its production. In addition, it uses gas, including biomethane, as its main fuel, guaranteeing the absorption of all the CO2 emissions generated in its production. Hybrid, it has gasoline as a secondary fuel.
These will be the first tests with a vehicle with that technology developed from the factory conducted by teams from Itaipú and CIBiogás.
The guests will be able to know the advantages of this technology tuned with the most modern sustainable mobility trends, take a ride in the Audi moved to biomethane, take the opportunity to visit the Biogas and Biomethane Demonstration Unit of the CIBiogás and interview professionals involved in the research.
Inaugurated just over a year ago, the Biogas and Biomethane Demonstration Unit is one of the important milestones in the area of renewable energies and sustainable mobility promoted by Itaipú and CIBiogas. From the use of various wastes, such as the remains of food from the company’s restaurants, the plant currently supplies an expressive part of Itaipu’s fleet of vehicles with biomethane and, thereby, significantly reduces toxic emissions into the atmosphere related to climate change.
The arrival of the A5 Sportback G-Tron for a test phase is Audi’s recognition of pioneering action in Brazil led by Itaipú and CIBiogás.
