June 3, 2023. To promote the conversion of vehicles to compressed natural gas (CNG), the Companhia de Gás de Minas Gerais (Gasmig) launched the “Take it for your car. Take it for your pocket” promotion in the Brazilian state. Aimed at taxi drivers, drivers of passenger and delivery applications, fleet owners and individuals in general, the initiative will grant bonuses of up to R$ 3,500 to those who install the new CNG kit (5th or 6th generation), between June 1 and on July 31, 2023.
Those interested in receiving the bonus must register on the company’s website, where it is possible to access the full regulations of the promotion. Legal entities and individuals, owners of new or used vehicles – manufactured after 2007, may participate. Scheduled to end on July 31, 2023, the promotion may end earlier, if the limit of 1,200 vehicles in total is reached.
The President of Gasmig, Gilberto Valle, explains that the name of the promotion – “Take it for your car. Take it for your pocket”- summarizes well the benefits that the driver will have when choosing to install the CNG kit and use this fuel. “The bond can cover up to 70% of the cost of converting the vehicle to run on CNG. And natural gas, in addition to being cleaner, is more economical and has the highest yield and cost per mile compared to ethanol and gasoline. CNG is even more advantageous for professional drivers, who cover more than 100 kilometers a day. Savings can reach 40%. That is why it is important to carry CNG in the car and save money in the pocket”, says Gilberto Valle.
