August 21, 2025. Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will inaugurate the Kingdom’s first independent compressed natural gas (CNG) station, a move designed to increase reliance on locally produced energy.
The new facility is the result of a cooperation between the National Advanced Natural Gas Company Watani, Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company (Jopetrol) and Jordan Liquefied Gas Company (JLGC). It will supply buses, trucks, and other vehicles with CNG sourced from the Risha field.
“This is Jordan’s first station of its kind and an important step towards increasing reliance on domestic energy sources,” the Ministry said.
The government sees the project as part of its broader effort to expand the use of natural gas and attract private investment, aligning with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision and long-term energy diversification plans.
JLGC is the first company to establish a station dedicated to processing gas from the Risha field, supporting national efforts to scale up production, meet the needs of local communities, and supply key economic sectors across the country.
