April 8, 2024. Public transportation in Lima, Peru, already has 25 new units powered by natural gas vehicles (NGV), a more economical, efficient energy that contributes to the reduction of CO2. This milestone has been possible through the financing that the transportation company El Rápido has received with the Camisea GNV Bonus.
With this latest delivery, there are now more than 130 NGV passenger buses circulating in Lima and Callao thanks to the financing of the Camisea GNV Bonus, a program promoted by the Camisea and Cálidda Consortium to benefit the public transport and heavy cargo sector of Lima and Callao.
According to Camisea representatives, to date there are already around 140 companies that have accessed the Camisea GNV Bonus, which have acquired around 560 natural gas vehicles; between trucks, tractor-trailers and buses. It should be noted that this program is part of the natural gas massification initiatives promoted by the Camisea Consortium, operated by Pluspetrol and which provides financing of between USD10,000 and USD15,000 for the purchase of new natural gas vehicles.
In addition to the Camisea GNV Bonus, the Camisea Consortium, together with Cálidda, has the “Eco Motor GNV” program, which offers bus and truck owners interest-free financing to change their engines from diesel to natural gas.
In Ica, Camisea together with Contugas has launched the “Camisea GNV Financing” program, which offers an interest-free bond for 3 to 5 years to those who wish to buy a natural gas bus.
