February 5, 2023. The natural gas vehicles (NGV) rate in Pernambuco, Brazil, was reduced by 14.8%. The average reduction in the price of natural gas, for all segments, is 14.4%. The rate adjustment was authorized by the Pernambuco Regulation Agency (ARPE). Natural gas is distributed in the State by Copergás.

The value of the tariffs is due to the transfer of the price of the product sold by the three supplier companies that serve Copergás: Petrobras, Shell and New Fortress. The readjustment takes place four times a year, every three months: on February 1; May 1st; on August 1 and November 1. “Copergás sought to diversify its portfolio of suppliers precisely to be able to offer the possibility of greater competition and a reduction in the price of the fuel supplied to Pernambuco”, argued the President of Copergás, André Campos, recalling that in the State, NGV has a of the lowest rates in Brazil.

For the Secretary of State for Economic Development, Guilherme Cavalcanti, a more competitive price for natural gas is essential for Pernambuco’s economy. This price reduction makes it possible for the different sectors served by Copergás to obtain better results than their competitors. And these positive effects can be felt both in vehicles that use NGV and in industries and the service sector.
