August 9, 2021. Turkey’s main bus brand, Otokar, is making headway in its exports. By providing safe and comfortable travel for millions of passengers in 50 countries with more than 35 thousand vehicles, it received an order for 50 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses from Azerbaijan to serve in Baku’s public transport.
This is an order for the KENT CNG model by Xaliq Faiqoglu, a leading operator in that country. The Turkish brand will produce 48 12-meter units of the KENT CNG model and two 18.75-meter articulated KENT CNG buses to meet the needs of the Azerbaijani capital. The company plans to begin delivering the order this year and complete it in the first quarter of 2022.
Otokar General Manager Serdar Görgüç said: “We are delighted to announce that our vehicles, which are already the choice of the municipalities of Turkey along with many European countries, including France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Malta and Romania, will also begin to serve in Azerbaijan soon. This agreement also marks the largest export order for CNG buses in one lot. We are incredibly proud that the units we design and manufacture in Turkey are used in some of the world’s major cities.”
Görgüç added: “The KENT buses that we will produce in accordance with the requirements of Xaliq Faiqoglu, the largest public transport operator in Azerbaijan for almost 20 years, will bring superior comfort with their spacious interiors and special features to the inhabitants of Baku.”
