PBGÁS lowers the price of NGV in the state by 4.7%

The Companhia Paraibana de Gás (PBGÁS) reduced the net rate per cubic meter of natural gas for vehicles (NGV) by 4.7%.

August 4, 2023. The Companhia Paraibana de Gás (PBGÁS) reduced the net rate per cubic meter of natural gas for vehicles (NGV) by 4.7%. The measure will be published by the Paraíba State Regulatory Agency (ARPB) in the Official State Gazette (DOE), and is already in force, benefiting consumers, strengthening competitiveness and boosting the local economy.

As a result, there will be a reduction of R$0.12 cents in the NGV rate and R$0.4 cents in the net rate of compressed natural gas (CNG), marketed throughout the Brazilian state. The rate for NGV cubic meter sold to the stations, which is R$ 2.62, will be reduced to R$ 2.49, and that of CNG will drop from R$ 2.26 to R$ 2.22.

The General Director of PBGÁS, Jailson Galvão, highlighted that this reduction was possible thanks to a gas acquisition strategy with suppliers Petrobras and Potiguar E&P. “This approach allowed us to focus the reductions on the automotive segment, which faced a loss of competitiveness after the end of the PIS/COFINS exemption on fuels, due to the end of the validity of Provisional Measure No. 1,163 on June 28, which produced an increase of R$ 0.32 cents per cubic meter in the automotive segment in Paraíba”.
