St1 Biokraft expands biomethane refueling network in Denmark

St1 Biokraft is expanding its presence in the Nordic biomethane sector through an agreement to acquire Danish Bio Commodities.

July 1, 2026. St1 Biokraft is expanding its presence in the Nordic biomethane sector through an agreement to acquire Danish Bio Commodities (DBC), a transaction that strengthens its renewable fuel production capabilities and supports the growth of biomethane refueling infrastructure in the region.

The acquisition provides St1 Biokraft with a foothold in Denmark, one of Europe’s most developed biomethane markets, while adding more than 350 GWh of production capacity and nearly 900 GWh in projects under development. The transaction includes five production assets and a pipeline of six new biomethane plants in development.

The deal supports St1 Biokraft’s strategy to increase the availability of biomethane for transportation and other energy applications. The company currently operates a growing network of over 70 refueling stations and bus depots in the Nordic countries, in addition to production facilities in Sweden and Norway.

The acquisition aligns with St1 Biokraft’s long-term goals of achieving 3 TWh of self-produced biomethane and 6 TWh of biomethane sales by 2030. Besides its existing assets in the Nordic region, the company is developing new production facilities in Finland through the joint venture Suomen Lantakaasu.
