November 17, 2022. Sytral Mobilités, the organizing authority for mobility in the Lyon area, France, demonstrates its confidence in Iveco Bus with the award of an order for 12 new generation natural gas Urbanway Hybrid of 12 meters. These new buses will be delivered in March 2023.
The new hybrid solution, available for the first time in natural gas, offers significant environmental and economic benefits. It includes a 48v LTO battery along with the DIWA NXT gearbox and the proven Cursor 9 motor.
The DIWA NXT gearbox is associated with a powerful 35 kW electrical module that works as a starter and generator, accumulating energy during the braking and deceleration phases, to feed the battery. The battery, which is capable of supplying 25 kW, takes over from the Cursor 9 motor during starting phases.
Thanks to the Stop & Start function, noise and vibrations are eliminated, which improves the comfort of both passengers and residents and pedestrians at bus stops, while further promoting fuel savings.
Save up to 16% fuel compared to the non-hybrid version and reduce CO2 emissions by 19%. Finally, the simplicity of the design, with no high-voltage components, combined with the energy savings achieved, significantly reduces the total cost of ownership compared to previous hybrid technologies.
