July 20, 2021. Fifteen new MAN Lion’s City buses powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) will modernize the Parma Public Transport (TEP) fleet in Italy. The development plan in Emilia Romagna continues thanks to the inclusion of efficient and safe urban vehicles with a reduced environmental impact, which will guarantee the city and the entire interior an expansion of the lines and a higher quality of service.
The 12-meter MAN Lion’s City A21 CNG units are equipped with a 12.8-liter MAN E2876 in-line six-cylinder engine, rated at 300 hp (228 kW), propelled by natural gas, and a six-speed ZF automatic transmission. They are characterized by a low floor without internal steps to facilitate access on board and, in addition, thanks to the electronically controlled air suspension, they tilt laterally at the stop, so that the height of the entry step is reduced to only 24 cm, making access significantly easier for passengers with mobility disabilities, reducing the difference in height between the vehicle floor and the curb and, consequently, the slope of the manual dump platform in the double central door. Two other double doors are located at the front and rear of the unit.
“The delivery of these 15 buses follows that of last October, when TEP Parma received 8 MAN Lion’s City CNG, and represents for us a positive continuity and a further confirmation of the appreciation of our product by the companies for public transport, but also, more generally, for all passengers using public urban mobility services,” said Lorenzo Boghich, MAN Truck & Bus Italia Sales Director.
