The XII Argentina Oil & Gas Expo 2019 culminated its edition by far exceeding the numbers of the previous edition. In fact, and the night before the last day of Expo, which was held at La Rural Fairground of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, the visitor count had greatly exceeded 20,000 in the 2017 edition. At the end of this edition, the figure is expected to exceed 25,000 visitors.
Over three days, visitors and more than 450 exhibiting companies from 12 countries – Germany, Argentina, Brazil, China, Spain, the United States, France, India, Italy, Japan, Russia and Uruguay – gathered on a surface 35,000m2 deck.
And in each one of the days different proposals were raised: on the one hand, the maximum referents of the sector met in the meeting with the CEOs cycle, where they shared with the audience their vision about the present and future of the hydrocarbons industry in Argentina. Attendees were very attentive to the information provided by the 18 senior executives who participated in the meeting: Daniel González (YPF), Osvaldo del Campo (Galileo Technologies), Jeff Miller (Halliburton), Javier Martínez Álvarez (Tenaris Cono Sur), Javier Gremes Cordero (PECOM) and Alberto S. Fernández (Wärtsilä Argentina), Mariano Gargiulo (Baker Hughes), Daniel De Nigris (ExxonMobil in Argentina), Alberto Matamoros (GeoPark Argentina and Chile), Horacio Turri (Pampa Energía), Alejandro Bulgheroni (Pan American Energy), Germán Macchi (Pluspetrol Argentina) and Sean Rooney (Shell Argentina), Dominique Marion (Country Chair of the Total Argentina Group), Manfred Böckmann (Wintershall Dea Argentina SA), Oscar Sardi (Transportadora de Gas del Sur), Daniel Ridelener (Transportadora de Gas del Norte) and Gabriela Aguilar (Excelerate Energy).
Another of the activities that convened the exhibition was the AOG Lecture Series where three panels were developed, in a full room, on topics that span the entire industry. The first day the theme was the Roadmap on the Contribution to the SDGs of the Hydrocarbons Industry in Argentina: an unpublished presentation since it is the first time that the sector joins to carry out this joint work. On the second day, they talked about energy Transitions, their opportunities and the impact on development. The question of how to meet the growing energy demand of a world with a growing population, but minimizing the impacts, was addressed. Finally, they spoke on Diversity and inclusion; The gender perspective, vulnerable groups and the trans collective in the energy industry were analyzed.
In parallel to the exhibition, the 4th Latin American Congress and 6th National Security, Occupational Health and Environment were held, with more than 300 registered. There, topics such as sustainability, diseases such as addictions and their treatment, and the circulation of bitrenes, among others, were developed. There were more than 70 exhibitions of technical works, keynote talks and interactive activities, including two workshops.
On the opening day, more than 350 young people participated in the 4th edition of the YOUNG OIL & GAS (JOG), where the new generations, gathered in the IAPG Young Professionals Commission, had a prominent place. The JOGs aim to give depth to the areas that they understand most affect their careers, that is, the vectors through which the Energy industry will advance: the unconventional, the offshore, Exploration, mature fields and fuels, among others. In addition, they analyzed how to face career development: from how to put together the CV – with advice from the creators of the best-known job portals -, the Human Resources vision and the gender perspective.
During the Business Rounds, about 324 meetings were held, where buyers from Bolivia, Colombia and Peru met with Argentine production companies able to export. In this edition, the products of interest of foreign buyers involved all stages of the industry’s production: transportation and distribution.
The Argentina Oil & Gas Expo 2019, the International Oil and Gas Exhibition, was held from September 23 to 26, 2019 at La Rural Predio Ferial in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The next meeting of the industry will be in the Patagonia edition of the AOG, from September 9 to 11, 2020, in the DUAM Space of Neuquén. And in two years, it will be the XIII Argentina Oil & Gas Expo 2021 at La Rural Predio Ferial de Buenos Aires.
