Unidas receives first natural gas trucks in Sete Lagoas

Iveco delivered the first 17 units, out of a total of 20, of the Hi-Way NG 6X2 600S46T truck to Unidas, one of the largest fleet leasing companies in the country.

October 19, 2022. The decarbonization of Brazilian transport is gaining more and more strength in the segment. In this sense, Iveco delivered the first 17 units, out of a total of 20, of the Hi-Way NG 6X2 600S46T truck to Unidas, one of the largest fleet leasing companies in the country. The firm will be the first to have Iveco trucks fueled by natural gas or biomethane in its fleet, powered by FPT Industrial’s Cursor 13 engine.

The vehicle delivery ceremony took place at the automaker’s plant in Sete Lagoas (Minas Gerais), and was attended by executives from both brands. Until reaching the commercialization model, the Hi-Way, which is part of the recently launched Brasil Natural Power program, required 70,000 hours of development. The end result was a product with the best power/consumption ratio in the segment with a range of up to 500 kilometres.

“It is very satisfying to see in practice the result of a product that was developed with a focus on the peculiarities of transportation in Brazil. The Hi-Way NG is a milestone for Iveco in the segment of vehicles powered by alternative fuels in the country”, declares Marcio Querichelli, President of Iveco in Latin America.

During the test period in large Unidas carriers, the trucks will be monitored by the brand to ensure total customer satisfaction with the performance of the vehicles in different cargo operations. Unidas recently unified its operations with Ouro Verde, which brought to the brand all its team and experience in leasing and outsourcing of vehicles, trucks, machinery and heavy equipment.

“For us, the ESG journey is not just a goal, but a commitment we make to society as a whole. Through initiatives such as this alliance with Iveco, our main objective is to generate value for the entire chain and transform the mobility segment. We believe that, by working together to advance in the evolution and modernization of the fleets, we are working as protagonists of a long-term sustainable model”, says Cláudio Zattar, General Director of Unidas.
