April 15, 2025. Cálidda, a Peruvian gas distribution company, organized the first event on natural gas vehicles (NGV) focused on the heavy-duty transport sector. The Ruta GNV Forum featured Edwin Derteano, President of the Transitemos Foundation and the Peruvian Land Transport Business Alliance.
“We are very pleased to organize this forum and bring together the main players in the heavy-duty transport sector, which is the backbone of trade in the country. These vehicles transport products, goods, materials, and food throughout Peru; and at Cálidda, we are firmly committed to promoting sustainable, safe, affordable, and efficient transport,” said Jaime Aguilar, Deputy Manager of Heavy-Duty Transport at Cálidda.
An example of this commitment is the Flotahorro GNV program, an initiative that allows for financing of up to 80% of the value of heavy-duty natural gas vehicles, with terms of up to five years, and with significant savings for its beneficiaries, not only in terms of credit, since using CNG in cargo trucks represents a savings of up to 60% in fuel costs compared to diesel.
Since its launch in 2024, Flotahorro GNV has provided loans for US$5.0 million to finance 82 heavy-duty natural gas vehicles, which has generated greater profitability for the beneficiary companies, as the fuel savings cover the financing installment and still allow them to enjoy additional savings from the first month of operation.
Along with the financing program, the company has launched other initiatives dedicated to heavy-duty transport, such as the first specialized digital platform for customers, potential users, and companies in this sector, in partnership with San Bartolomé, Zappler, Tracusa, and Camiones Chinos Perú, among other dealerships that will be added in the future.
