Valladolid receives four new CNG waste collection trucks

They will make waste collection more efficient as they are compressed natural gas vehicles, and will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

October 22, 2023. The Mayor of Valladolid, Jesús Julio Carnero, and the Counselor of the Presidency of the Junta de Castilla y León, Luis Miguel González Gago, have presented four new trucks intended for waste collection, which have represented a investment of 1,094,637 euros and which will be incorporated into the city’s Municipal Cleaning Service. The Board has financed these acquisitions through the General Local Economic Cooperation at a percentage greater than 82%.

In this sense, the Mayor has highlighted that “these four trucks allow us to continue updating the vehicle fleet of the Valladolid Municipal Cleaning Service, making waste collection more efficient as they are compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles, and thus contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions”.

The regional financing for the acquisition of this batch of trucks corresponds to one of the lines of subsidies that the Ministry of the Presidency allocates to the Castilian and Leonese municipalities, among them those with more than 20,000 inhabitants, which are generally those that have a greater breadth in the competencies they manage.

Three of the vehicles presented are side-loading and one is rear-loading. The side-loading trucks have compaction equipment with a capacity of 22 cubic meters, a 2,200-liter container lift that is operated from the cabin, 5 vision cameras distributed to facilitate the driver’s work, a 27-ton chassis, automatic gearbox and CNG engine.

The rear loading vehicle has 19 cubic meter compaction equipment, a container lift in the rear for containers of up to 1,100 liters, a rear view camera, with equipment management both from the truck and from the buttons on both sides of the lifting equipment, 27-ton chassis, automatic gearbox and natural gas engine.
