Parma adds 25 buses powered by methane

Trasporti Pubblici Parma (TEP) inaugurated 25 buses and minibuses, all powered by methane, intended for urban, suburban and school services.

November 20, 2023. Trasporti Pubblici Parma (TEP) inaugurated 25 buses and minibuses, all powered by methane, intended for urban, suburban and school services in the Italian province. It is the result of an investment of 7 million euros. In May, the company had presented a new batch of trolleybuses.

In detail, these are the new vehicles: 10 MAN Lion’s City CNG, 18 EfficientHybrid, as many Citymood 12 CNG designed by Industria Italiana Autobus, 5 Iveco minibuses with Indcar bodywork.

With this supply, TEP’s methane fleet reaches 118 units (90 ordinary passenger cars + 28 Happy Bus minibuses).

The new batch of articulated buses, in particular, makes it possible to give life to the project already announced by TEP to expand the supply of natural gas to all suburban services, that is, those that depart from the city and reach the extra-urban municipalities of Parma.

The purchase of natural gas units will continue in 2024, with 7 Iveco Crossways intercity minibuses and 4 Happy Bus minibuses already ordered and arriving between spring and autumn.

However, for lines that circulate exclusively in urban areas, TEP continues its commitment to the electrification of services. The first 14 all-electric buses, bearing the Solaris logo, are expected to arrive in spring 2024.
